Biography: Rhett Strauss

I grew up in a town called Horsham in country Victoria.  I have always enjoyed playing a variety of different sports including tennis, cricket, basketball, and golf.  At the age of 14 I was introduced to physical training through a subject at school which I immediately appreciated.  I enjoyed it so much that I repeated it again the following year.  I continued physical training right through my VCE studies which required me to get up at 5:30am and ride my bike 20 minutes to the local gym.

At the end of my year 12, I decided to study a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering at RMIT University in Melbourne.  I studied persistently and continued to physically train hard during university.  But I was never passionate about engineering even though I finished late 2002 with First Class Honours.  I immediately enrolled myself into a Certificate III and IV in Fitness so that I could become a Personal Trainer while I ‘reluctantly’ searched for engineering work.  I never found that engineering work, but I enthusiastically began working as a Personal Trainer in a South Yarra gym in 2003.

My enthusiasm in physical training has evolved into a passion for improving wellbeing from a holistic perspective.  I began studying through the C.H.E.K. Institute in 2004 which has provided me with an understanding of the whole-body interconnectedness that results in physical symptoms such as pain & disease.  I am currently a Corrective High-performance Exercise Kinesiologist (C.H.E.K.) Practitioner Level 2 and Holistic Lifestyle Coach (HLC) Level 2 (click to learn more about the  Essential C.H.E.K Philosophy).  With each client I focus on improving the Foundation Principles of good health which are: Thoughts, Breath, Hydration, Nutrition, Movement, and Sleep.

I love what I teach and I live every aspect of it.  I really appreciate the role of coaching people back to glorious wellbeing and I know that it’s impossible to take people places I have not been.

My specialities include:

  • Improving body shape and postural alignment
  • Reducing pain and assisting your body to heal injuries
  • Eliminating fatigue and reducing stress
  • Sports and work specific resistance training
  • Increasing libido and fertility
  • Improving immune system function
